Erie Satellite Group
Exciting news! There is a new group of families in the Erie area who have decided to get together because they are unable to attend the Pittsburgh events due to distance. So far we have about six families including Mom’s, Dad’s, children, teens, young adults and grandmothers who have attended our meetings. We had a fun bowling party this past November at the Green Garden Lanes.
The group has met several times and discussed what the group would like to do. Early on the group met with Joyce Trew, NFCA treasurer, to talk about the history of the NFCA and join the discussion of how the new group can get involved with raising public awareness about NF. The NFCA will financially support the meetings and the events.
But our largest endeavor is yet to come. The Erie group is planning an NF walk for 2009 on the Erie Peninsula to raise awareness and funds. The walk is going to take place at the Peninsula on Saturday June 19, 2010 it will start at 9 a.m. and end at 2 p.m. Beach 6 will be the starting and ending point. We may plan a picnic for afterwards right there at Beach 6. The walk will be 2.5 miles each way, making it a 5K Walk.
Our next meeting is March 16 at 7 PM to discuss more details of how we can further organize and advertise this event. It will be at a room in the New Hope Presbyterian Church. Please come and enjoy the company and join us in talking the walk!! Please R.S.V.P. so we know how many are coming.
